Former Child Star Opens Up About Sexual Assault
She has grown up on our screens since making her debut in Signs as little Bo back in 2002.
So when Abigail Breslin revealed to fans on Instagram she had been sexually assaulted, it opened up a conversation that made people stop and think.
The former child star, who is currently working on a remake of Dirty Dancing in which she stars as Baby, posted a photo that read about consent.
“You are not obligated to have sex with someone that you’re in a relationship with,” it said.
“Dating is not consent. Marriage is not consent.”
Confessing “I knew my assailant”, the 20-year-old star told fans it was time to break the silence for Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
It’s a sentiment that was heard by many who also shared their own stories, while other celebs like Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland commended her for her bravery.
Taking to Twitter afterwards, Breslin thanked fans for their support.
