A Mysterious Riverdale Spinoff Is In The Works At CW And OMG

While we’re here complaining about the amount of time we have to wait in-between the seasons of Riverdale, the makers of the show are busily working to satisfy our hunger for the dramatic mystery series with a new spin-off show!

President of the CW Network behind Riverdale, Mark Pedowitz, has revealed on Monday that they are currently in the very early stages of developing a spinoff of the popular series with Riverdale show runner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

The new series would see a possible slot in the 2019-2020 television series but the details of the series are still being discussed.

“In terms of spinoffs out of Riverdale, I’m waiting to hear what Roberto has in mind. He has something in mind,” said Pedowitz during the executive session at the Television Critics Association press tour.

“We’re really excited but we’re still early on in the process. It will be very different from Riverdale,” he told reporters on Monday after the press tour.

It’s unclear whether this new spinoff series will focus on any characters already known to us through Riverdale’s first two seasons, but our hopes are that we’ll get a love story focused on nothing but Bughead because seriously that’s just something that our hearts NEED! (Seriously CW, we'll even offer ourselves up to write the story lines if need be)

This isn’t the first time that CW has toyed with the idea of a Riverdale spinoff with another new series, ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’, originally brought into development as a possible companion show to Riverdale being based on the Archie Comics characters.

This Sabrina adaption was awarded two seasons with 20 episodes a piece by Netflix back in December.

Riverdale returns for it’s third season on Wednesday, Oct. 10 and we seriously can’t wait to get back into the drama!

Imagine how much amazing TV viewing we’ll have once this spinoff is created… We’ll never be bored binging again!
